Transferring Photos from iPad to MacBook
- Connect your iPad to your MacBook using a USB cable.
- Open the Photos app on your MacBook. The app should automatically show an Import screen with all your iPad's photos and videos. If it doesn’t, click on your device’s name in the Photos sidebar on the left.
- Unlock your iPad if prompted and tap “Trust This Computer” if asked.
- Select the photos you want to import. You can choose specific photos or click “Import All New Photos”.
- Choose the destination for your photos. You can select an existing album or create a new one. I'd recommend creating one with the dates of when the photos/videos are from. For example, 'Sept 2023 to July 2024'.
- Click “Import Selected” or “Import All New Photos” to start the transfer.
Wait for the process to complete, and then you can unplug your iPad from your MacBook.
Deleting and managing Photos on the iPad
- Open the Photos app on your iPad.
- Select the photos you want to delete. You can do this by tapping “Select” in the top right corner and then tapping on the photos.
- Tap the trash icon in the bottom right corner.
- Confirm the deletion by tapping “Delete Photos”.
- Go to the “Recently Deleted” album in the Photos app.
- Select all photos and tap “Delete All” to permanently remove them from your device.
Just triple-check that your photos and videos are 100% in your Photos app on your MacBook, or they will not be recoverable after being permanently removed from the iPad.
